Lucebert was a famous painter as well as poet. He was a member of the Dutch Experimental Group, and later joined COBRA. Although his membership of COBRA was quite shortlived, the movement however was of vital importance to him as an artist. In the fifities, Lucebert focused mainly on painting.
The myths he created through his paintings and poems, were based on the real world and are packed with literary innuendos. The fifties came with many influences. The sixties though were inspired by the childlike drawings from the COBRA-period.
